Map I: Drive on MacOS

The I: drive is a networked file server maintained by UW IT and can only be accessed if you are using a protected UW network connection. If you're on campus or in a UW building, then a wired connection or the "eduroam" Wifi network should allow you to access it.
If you are not on campus, then you will need to first connect to the Husky OnNet (Big-IP Edge) VPN.
To connect to the Managed File Server ("I: Drive") from a MacOS computer, follow the steps below.
  1. Go to the Finder toolbar and select Go > Connect to server
  2. Enter smb://netid.washington.edu/mws
in the address field and click Connect
Tip: You can click the plus button to add the I Drive to your list of Favorite Servers

  3. Depending on what version of macOS you are running, you may be prompted to connect to the server. Click Connect to proceed.
  4. You will be prompted for credentials. For the name, enter your UW NetID in the form netid\<uwnetid> and then enter your NetID password. Click connect.

  5. You will then be connected to the drive. If it doesn’t show up on your desktop, click on the desktop, go to Finder -> Preferences in the menubar, and ensure that “Connected Servers” is checked under “Show these items on the desktop:”
