Adding Ricoh printers (Mac)

Adding Ricoh printers (Mac)

Note: In order to add printers or to print to the devices at HRC or NJB, you must either be on a campus network connection or be connected to the UW VPN, Husky OnNet.

Follow these steps to add one of the shared Ricoh printers to your Mac. In order to print successfully to the shared DGH printers, 3 separate steps are needed:
  1. Install printer drivers
  2. Add printer
  3. Configure print settings

Install Printer Drivers

The print drivers are needed for your computer to communicate with the Ricoh printer you want to connect to. If you have already done this for one of the printers, you do not need to repeat this step when adding other printers of the same type.
  1. Download the latest Postscript driver (PPD Installer) for Mac OS from the Ricoh web site (you will need to select your specific OS version to find the correct file)
    1. HRC 8th floor and NJBhttp://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/rc3/model/imc4500/imc4500.htm
    2. HRC 7th floorhttps://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/rc3/model/imc3010/imc3010.htm
  2. Double-click to open the downloaded DMG file. When the file opens, you will see the installer PKG file.
  3. Double-click the installer PKG and follow the steps in the installer.

Add the Printer

Once the printer drivers have been added, you can add any or all of the printers needed.

Open System Settings and click on Printers & Scanners.
  1. Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax...
  2. In the Add Printer dialog
    1. Click on the internet icon at the top (it looks like a globe)
    2. In the Address field, enter the IP address for the printer you want to use (see table below)
      Printer locationIP Address
      HRC 75910.158.254.4
      HRC 84110.158.176.12
      NJB 1270172.22.66.110
Replace the value in the Name field with the location of the printer.
  3. Click "Add"

Configure Print Settings

After the printer has been added to your computer, you will not be able to print successfully until you adjust the print settings for each application or you save this set as the default.
  1. Press Cmd+P to open the print dialog and select the desired printer.
  2. In the Print window, click on Printer Options to expand.
  3. Click on Job Log

  4. In the Job Log dialog
    1. Enter your NetID in the User ID field
    2. Set Job Type to Hold Print
    3. Check Enable User Code
    4. Enter your 4-digit printing code. (If you do not know your code, please check with your budget manager.)
    5. Click OK
  5. To save this as your default printer settings, under Presets, select Save Current Settings as Preset. This will use these settings each time you print.
    1. Note that the default settings also inform things like color selection, double-sided printing, and paper size. You may want to have multiple presets for different printing settings.
